The Malthouse, originally an old malting house, is situated close to the small thriving boat yards.  It is within a few minutes walk of the famous Tide Mill and enjoys fine views of the River Deben.  The house, which is adjacent to the railway station (about 12 trains a day of two or three carriages), is close to the shopping centre, the cinema, the indoor heated swimming pool, pubs and other facilities offered by the town and river.  This popular property provides simple accommodation for not more than five persons.

The house has, on the ground floor, two bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with three single beds.  The entrance hallway is a mezzanine floor off which, to Bathroomthe right, is a bathroom with shower over the bath, wash hand basin, WC and shaver socket and, to the left, a cloakroom cum utility room with WC, washing machine, space for wellie storage etc and a door leading outside to a grassy area of natural garden.  On the first floor, there is the living room which is combined with a compact kitchen and dining area – there are fine views across the Quay and down the river.  There is a further room at the top of the house, approached by steep, open tread stairs in the corner of the first floor, which serves as additional living area.

There is a small fenced, paved garden at the front and reserved parking for one big/two small cars is available immediately beside the house.

The household amenities include one double and three single beds, a colour television, DVD, a telephone which accepts incoming calls only – mobile phone reception is good, an automatic washing machine, refrigerator, electric cooker, microwave and adequate household and cooking equipment. Night storage heaters and, for instant heat, wall mounted electric radiators provide warmth. Duvets, pillows and all bedlinen are provided but please bring towels and teacloths with you. If preferred, towels and teacloths can be hired at a cost of £2.50 per person per week – please order at the time of making your booking.

Small, well behaved, non aggressive dogs (maximum two in number) are allowed provided they are kept under strict control.
